It's been a long time coming, but finally, there is a wonderful pilates studio in town and a lovely teacher. I use Pilates as part of my overall fitness and health routine to build strength and muscle balance so that I can safely perform more explosive exercises. It is an essential and one of the more enjoyable parts of my weekly routine. Since adding pilates, I have reduced aches, pains, tweaks and other injuries.

I had my second 1:1 session with Alison last night - Amazing. Her attention to the detail which means I am absolutely doing the exercise 100% correctly is spot on. One tiny comment she made about a specific exercise which I have used daily since has rid me of back ache I’ve had since November. If you want to make your Pilates really count I recommend a few 1:1sessions. It is well worth the cost.

As a totally newbie to Pilates and Pilates Reformer, Alison has been amazing at explaining, adjusting and going into the detail of what different parts of the reformer machine do as well as which part of the body each movement is targeted to. The studio itself only has 6 machines which for me, has made the lesson more enjoyable and personalised. I really feel like I’m getting my moneys worth and now, my Pilates Reform class is the highlight of my week!

I have attended Pilates classes for many years and without doubt Alison is one of the best instructors I have had the pleasure to meet. Alison is new to Five Rivers leisure centre but already word is spreading about how good and thorough her sessions are. Her instruction is clear and she takes the time to explain the muscles that you are using and how specific movement can benefit the body. Alison is constantly checking her class and continually assessing and realigning her students ensuring their posture and positioning are correct. I attend other Pilates classes at the leisure centre and I find myself applying her instruction to the other sessions. My understanding of the muscle groups and how best to focus on specific areas has increased enormously. Alison is a fantastic addition to the leisure centre. I really enjoy her classes.

Alison’s sessions are always fun while also being challenging (but achievable!) and each session builds on the progress I’ve made. She takes into account other sports I do and how Pilates can help me achieve better performance and reduce injury.
